Our Committees

AAF Tampa Bay is a volunteer organization, led by individuals who care about advancing the advertising industry in our community. And as with any organization, you get out of it what you put in to it. Members are encouraged to participate on one of our many Teams to help plan and execute the various operations and initiatives of AAF Tampa Bay.

 

American Advertising Awards

Looking for: Volunteers to help with sponsorships, trophies, show production, graphic design for program, and more!

The American Advertising Awards team is responsible for all activities related to the annual competition including local rules and regulations, invitations, judges and judging, awards, awards event, and forwarding materials to AAF District 4 and National competitions. Entry deadline is at the end of December, judging is in January and the awards event is held in February.

 

Club Achievement

Looking for: Copywriter/Editor, production coordinator.

The Club Achievement team’s responsibility is to collect information and materials in an organized fashion throughout the AAF Tampa Bay club year in order to submit entries in the District 4 and National AAF Club Achievement Competitions. To encourage the Board and Team Leaders to focus AAF Tampa Bay efforts on meeting the National AAF standards in order to win National Club Achievement awards and ultimately “Club of the Year” for our division.

 

Communications

Looking for: Social media gurus, copywriters to help do member spotlights, e-mail list management, public relations specialists, and more.

The Communication Team is responsible for all aspects related to the promotion of AAF Tampa Bay and its events. This includes e-blasts, social media, sending out press releases to newspapers, TV and radio stations. The team is also responsible for the website and branding efforts.

 

Education

Looking for: Professors or teachers in the local community.

The Education Team is responsible for developing relationships with area colleges and universities, informing them about adopting a future student AAF chapter, and involving all area students in the American Advertising Awards Competition.

 

Membership

Looking for: New member recruiters, networking event coordinator, salespeople.

The Membership Team is responsible for recruiting new members, communicating with prospective members, and membership retention. Responsibilities include accurate membership reporting, creating member networking opportunities and welcoming new members.

 

Diversity

The Diversity team promotes the importance of multi-ethnic and multi-cultural inclusivity initiatives within AAF Tampa Bay and the local advertising industry. 

 

Public Service

Looking for: Team Leader, public relations, media buyer, vendor relations, event coordinators, and more!

The Public Service Committee is responsible for promoting charitable projects and efforts to the AAF Tampa Bay membership. 

Potential Public Service Committee members should be interested in charitable endeavors, non-profit outreach and developing volunteer opportunities for our members.

 

Events

Looking for: Future venue coordinator, program brainstorming, event planners, and more!

The Events Team is responsible for securing speakers for our regular membership events, programs, happy hours, and/or webinars. Duties include locating and contacting speakers, making arrangements, booking a location, etc.,

 

Government Relations

The Government Relations Committee is responsible for staying abreast of local, state and national legislative issues that may affect the business of advertising at any level. It is charged with informing members about those issues and encouraging them to communicate with their local legislative delegation about pending legislation. The committee maintains a relationship with any locally elected officials who may represent the interests of members and their business interests in state and federal government. Committee meetings are on an as-needed basis and may be more frequent just prior to and during state legislative sessions.

Potential Government Relations Committee members should have an interest in politics, building relationships with our local legislature and expanding their understanding of legal issues in advertising.
